Momentum Diagnostic.

Identify the problem worth solving. Stages 01–02 of the Momentum Cycle.

Who it’s for

Leaders who suspect AI can help the business and want evidence before committing budget, people and reputation. It also suits organisations mid-flight: pilots running, results unclear, a reset needed.

What happens

Assess. Systems, data, workflows and people are reviewed so the recommendation reflects how the business actually works. That means sitting with the teams who do the work, mapping where time and errors accumulate, and checking whether the data underneath a candidate workflow can support automation. Leaders set the risk appetite that everything gets scored against.

Prioritise. Candidate workflows are scored on five measures: value, frequency, feasibility, risk and readiness. The scoring is shown, argued and agreed, not delivered as a black box. Where two workflows compete, the evidence decides.

What you get

  • A scored shortlist of priority workflows, ranked, with the scoring visible.
  • The risks to avoid: where automation would be premature, and why.
  • The evidence behind the recommendation, in a form a board can read.
  • A clear next step: the strongest opportunity is shaped so it can move straight into Momentum Build.

What it is not: a technology selection exercise, a vendor bake-off, or a strategy deck that ends at the recommendation. The Diagnostic exists to start work, and it names the work.
